Messy, half-built or hard to explain? That’s where we start.

Ectonomic designs and builds software, websites and interactive things for small teams, from the first sketch to launch.

Our work

Products we design, build and run.

Our own products started the way most projects reach us: messy, half-built and hard to explain. They span software, websites, interactive things and brands, all made by one team, the same way we build for clients.

Contentingency

Early access

Run a marketing agency of one. Plan, produce and ship work for every brand you look after, all in one place, with an AI team that drafts and reviews the work and brings it to you to approve.

Interactive · Software

Ectodeck

Live

One app for the gear on your desk. Each device plugs in as its own core, the way RetroArch runs a core for each game console, so keys, macros, lighting and screens work the same across all of it. Its first version, for the MagTran M3 keypad, is open source.

Ectopulse

Turns what people report on a website into clear issues, and follows each one to a fix.

Ectofield

In development

Draw how an AI agent thinks and acts, step by step, then run it and watch every decision.

Ectoprompt

In development

A teleprompter for your phone that follows your voice word by word while you record.

Beyond the productsBuilt for the love of building.

Not everything we build is a product. We’ve rebuilt peripheral software from the ground up to breathe new life into older hardware. We’ve blown the door open on Linux support for small, low-cost fingerprint readers that were only ever supported on Windows. And we write firmware for custom-made gadgets that fill real gaps in the spaces we live and work in. If it has a screen, a sensor or a stubborn protocol, we’re glad to dig in.

How we work

Designers who build. The people who design your product are the people who build it, so what you approve is what ships.

  1. Something real, early.

You see working software early, usually within the first two weeks, instead of a slide deck.

  2. A price before we start.

Every project is scoped and priced in writing before any work begins.

  3. Built to be looked after.

We run products of our own, so we build every project to be supported, not just launched.

Agencies can also book creative technology work by the day, at $1,200 a day.

About

A small studio, close to the work.

Good design asks nothing more of people than the moment demands.

Grant Garrison, founder

Grant founded Ectonomic after fifteen years close to the actual work: brand systems, campaigns, websites, email and the tools that hold them together. He leads every project, from the first call to launch.
